Celebrating Adam Murat  :::  May 1984 - April 2010

The Silver Beach Scholarship

As a counselor at camp Silver Beach, Adam touched hundreds of lives. But the camp made it's own mark on his life as well. Whether coming up with creative and fun ways to keep his campers entertained, or teaching them about the water, Adam loved his time there (...and had plenty of stories to prove it).

The Adam Murat Camp Silver Beach Scholarship Award, sponsored by the YMCA and individual donors, was established in memory of Adam Murat. Adam, who loved the ocean and working with young people in the outdoors, was a camp counselor and waterfront director at Camp Silver Beach. He was an amazing person whose love of life and infectious laughter were only outdone by his hard work and dedication to serving the young people at camp. Adam's family wanted this annual scholarship to be established in his name and awarded to a returning camp counselor who embodies Adam's work ethics and enthusiasm for life. The purpose of the reward is to enable the recipient to continue their education or to pursue future goals that will positively affect and change lives the way Adam did during his time at Camp Silver Beach.
